Job Description:
The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resources function. This is an all-encompassing HR role for which responsibilities include, but are not limited to, policy development, employee training, employee benefits, Orientations, and employee relations, and providing oversight to the recruitment process. This position is a member of the executive management team.
Core Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and administer all human resources related policies including the Employee Handbook, hiring and termination processes. Consult with Executive Director regarding employment related issues and advises on course of action.
- Review and make recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
- Communicate changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization’s compliance.
- Monitors and ensures the organization compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance. Requires being well versed in California Labor Law.
- Consult with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
- Lead compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Act as a resource to individual employees, supervisory staff, managers, and executive team.
- Work directly with supervisory staff to assist in carrying out
- Responsibilities on personnel matters including performance improvement plans (PIPs) and involuntary terminations.
- Manage the organization’s employee benefits programs including open enrollment, new enrollments, terminations from plans, administering COBRA paperwork, and 401K Retirement Program.
- Oversee recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, volunteers, and interns. Acts as a resource to supervisory staff in their recruiting efforts. Oversee Open Position Requests, maintenance of the Open Positions Log, and other documents associated with recruiting and hiring.
- Conduct exit interviews with exempt employees to determine reasons behind separations. Ensure exit interviews are conducted with non-exempt departing staff.
- Collaborate on the implementation of employee training programs.
- Supervise staff of the human resource department.
- Manage tasks as assigned by the Executive Director to be handled in the Corporate Office. This may include delegation to other members of the corporate team.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
- Six (6) or more years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources
- An equivalent combination of education and additional experience may substitute for the degree
- HRCI and SHRM certification preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,301.00 - $153,619.00 per year
