Position background
The People & Culture Manager is a critical strategic and hands-on position supporting our leaders and employees in Clinton, TN. You will provide comprehensive leadership on all people-related matters including hiring, performance management, employee relations, employee and leadership development, organization design and compensation and rewards management. Partnering with the US Leadership Team and the Corporate People & Culture Team, you will focus on strengthening our innovative and inclusive culture, while providing excellent internal customer support.
You will be a part of the US Leadership team and will work closely with the US President to enhance the culture and build a great employee experience at Clinton, providing counsel to leaders and managers within the organization. The People & Culture Manager will proactively plan for and deliver the future talent needs for the organization, building winning HR solutions in learning and development, talent retention, diversity, equity and inclusion, rewards and recognition.
This new position reports jointly to the VP of People and Culture based in the Netherlands, and the US President based in Clinton, TN, and will collaborate with other P&C team members to design and deploy globally consistent P&C solutions for Tjoapack. This position requires attendance on-site with occasional remote working when needed.
Your responsibilities include
- Support leadership with a strategic workforce plan that addresses both the volume and skillset needs of the US business.
- Manage US recruiting from job posting, through interviewing, offering, background checking and onboarding.
- Support leaders with a performance management process, and where needed, performance improvement plans.
- Manage employee relations including investigations and terminations.
- Manage the design and delivery of competitive pay and benefits for the US employees.
- Coordinate with external advisors and partners to provide and administer appropriate employee benefits (such as health, details, insurances, vacation etc.)
- Measure and improve employee engagement at Clinton, supporting local leadership as you build a great culture and industry leading retention.
- Work with the US leadership team to evaluate talent, identify high potential team members and build development and succession plans.
- Foster and promote a culture that embodies diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety through fair and consistent management practices.
- Maintain accurate, auditable employee records and provide both management reporting (such as absence, turnover, training, succession reports) and compliance reporting as required.
- Maintain appropriate and legislatively acceptable employment practices, procedures and policies for the US business.
- Responsible for leave management and unemployment claims, including responses, appeals and hearings.
- Owner of the payroll process in collaboration with finance.

Your background, qualification and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, HR Management or relevant field required, PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
- Knowledge of HR processes and best practices.
- Experience with Payroll and HRIS systems.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in a Human Resource role supporting a workforce of 200 employees preferable in a manufacturing environment.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of US and TN State employment labor laws, regulations and principles.
- Effective communication and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrates empathy and experience driving inclusion work.
- Innovative thinker and continuous learner, is positive with a growth mindset, drives change with a ‘can do’ attitude, is result minded and action-oriented.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Current understanding of basic GMP or be able to complete training on basic pharma safety and manufacturing procedures. Experience within pharma would be preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Office 365 (or word and excel) & Microsoft Teams
