TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a System Support Technician working out of our office in Des Moines, Iowa.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The System Support Technician monitors and maintains the computer systems and networks within the company. This position is mainly responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and ensuring users get maximum benefits. It is crucial to ensure correct running and maintenance of the IT systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
- Monitor, support, and maintain computer systems and networks
- Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve hardware or software faults
- Comprehensibly communicate through various methods to staff to help set up systems or resolve issues
- Set up new users’ accounts and profiles
- Part replacements as needed
- Prioritize, manage, and assist IT help desk in a quick and timely manner
- Establish rapport with customers and other professionals, such as Developers and DBAs.
- Test and evaluate new technology
- Conduct safety checks on computer equipment
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or management of Information Systems, or equivalent training
- General knowledge of Microsoft products including Windows, Exchange, and Office
- Experience with 3rd party software packages required
- MSCE, A Certification recommended but not required
- Ability to plan and organize, attentive to detail, problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to travel minimally to different onsite locations as well as our other locations throughout the US
