Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care to patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and Hospital policy and procedures. The registered nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgement and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care of the patient; maintains clinical competencies through continuing education; delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available; provides direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.
Duties
- Performing physical exams and recording health histories for patients, before making critical decisions.
- Providing health promotion, counseling, and education to patients and families.
- Administering medications and other personalized interventions for treatment.
- Coordinating patient care, in collaboration with a wide array of health care professionals.
- Assessing patients’ symptoms and observing problems or abnormalities.
- Collecting lab samples and performing diagnostic tests.
- Monitoring patients for side effects and reactions.
- Collaborating with doctors on a patient’s treatment plan.
- Educating patients and their families on treatment, preventive care, and more.
- Advocating for the health and well-being of patients.
Requirements
- Valid active Nursing license that is good standing in TN
- Minium 2 years of prior nursing experience on Med Surg
- BLS required
- Additional certifications necessary based on unit of interest
- Experience with Cerner, Merge and Powerchart
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
