Receptionist
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) McMinnville is accepting applications for the full-time position of Receptionist. The receptionist is typically the initial point of contact with the public. Therefore, outstanding people and communications skills are essential. The receptionist must be able to multi-task, including greeting walk-ins, answering a multi-line phone system, responding appropriately to questions related to the program offerings. In addition, the receptionist is expected to maintain an orderly and pleasant waiting area.
Title: Receptionist – Full -Time Hourly
Classification: Non-Exempt – Support Staff
Office Location: TCAT McMinnville, 241 Vo Tech Dr., McMinnville, TN 37110
Hours: 7:30 am-4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test
- General knowledge of business English and math
- Current office technology, equipment, and procedures
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel)
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public, coworkers, and students
- Exercise good judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions
- Able to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly
- Possess a valid TN driver’s license
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer telephone, relay calls, and give information about the school and the programs
- Greet and direct visitors, give information about the school as needed
- Collecting payments for live work clients
- Sort incoming mail
- Assist in handling emergency information between the school and the fire department, ambulance service, doctor office, and police department
- Prepare mail for mailing
- Assist in preparing authorizations and confirmation of deliveries with proper invoices attached for items purchased
- Serve as the proctor for ParaPro and ASE testing
General Duties:
This position is under the supervision of the Coordinator of Fiscal Services, duties may also include
- General typing
- Assisting with reports and keeping records.
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands and Working Conditions (ADA REQUIREMENTS)
Walking, climbing, bending, and stooping. Work performed in office, testing center and classroom environments. Position requires the use of a computer.
Sedentary Work – Walking or standing to a significant degree; sitting for brief periods of time; be able to bend and stoop; use body members (arms, hands, fingers).
SALARY: $28,771 - $33,848 annually
EMPLOYMENT DOCUMENTS: Current federal law requires identification and eligibility verification prior to employment. Only U.S. citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States may be employed. A criminal/financial background check will be required for applicants elected.
Background checks will be completed on all new hires. Instructors will be asked to sign a background release authorizing TCAT McMinnville to complete a background check which will include the following: Sex Offender Registry, County Criminal &Federal Criminal.
