What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEDICAL CODER - FAMILY MEDICINE - PT (flexible/remote hours) position at Toledo Clinic?
Toledo Clinic's Family Medicine Practice is seeking an experienced Medical Coder (CPC or CCS-P strongly preferred). This position can work remotely if preferred but must be able to come to Toledo office as needed.
General Summary:
Responsible for application of CPT and ICD-9 (10) codes to all procedures performed for a given date of service for The Toledo Clinic, as well as tracking of patients seen and working all eCW claims for denials, errors.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Codes visits utilizing the ICD-10 and CPT codes from patient visit documentation.
- Demographic registration/updates for all patients
- Enters charges into claim entry in eCW
- Monitors, submits, correct all claim activity
- Create workflow processes to ensure accuracy and accountability
Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):
- Assists patients and/or insurance companies with billing and authorization questions.
- Coordinate with providers to ensure all visits are accounted for utilizing hospital call schedules,census/rounding sheets and appointment schedules.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Required:
- Knowledge of ICD10 and CPT codes and manuals required
- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- CPC or CCS-P or able to pass Toledo Clinic’s comprehensive coding test
Education: HS diploma or GED required.

- Previous coding experience
