Food Service Supervisor - Concessions

If you choose to join us, your mission would be to Plan, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of all Food Service Concessions, under limited supervision. Supervise subordinate staff in the preparation of food, assure proper inventory levels are maintained, assure labor, cost and revenue standards are met, adhere to proper cash handling procedures, and maintain cleanliness and safety of Concession stands and areas. The Food Services Supervisor reports to the Concessions Manager. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires forty hours worked per week.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in development and implementation training programs.
Supervise the activities of subordinate personnel which involves instructing, assigning and reviewing work planning; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; acting on employee problems; allocating personnel; selecting new employees; evaluating employees; and recommending transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, discharges and salary increases.
Monitor employee performance and conduct spots checks to ensure proper, effective and efficient performance by all subordinate staff.
Coordinate with the Recruiting Department in order to recruit, interview, and hire qualified staff.
Supervise food preparation processes and monitors the amount of food prepared in accordance with seasonal demands and/or other conditions.
Train and review customer service initiatives with supervisors, leaders, and staff.
Assist with inventory completion and entering each month.
Supervise the cleaning of concession areas and maintenance of equipment to ensure proper sanitation and health and safety guidelines are met.
Assist with scheduling part-time staff for stands on a weekly basis
Adhere to all Toledo Zoo policies/procedures and all required OSHA and safety/health policies.
Provide support to other Visitor Services departments including Catering, Park Operations, Merchandising and Warehouse operations.
Work with the Purchasing Coordinator on procurement of food and supply items.
Assist Warehouse Manager with product inventories, new products, storage and delivery schedules.
Operate various types of equipment and machinery such as a remote radio, telephone, cash register, computer, ovens grills, fryers, dish washers, freezers, refrigerators, steams equipment, kitchen equipment, scales, etc.
Participate in long and short range planning and development for Zoo growth.
Interact and communicate with vendors, subordinates, customers and immediate supervisor and other Zoo staff.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform other related duties as required.
Assist when necessary in all baking and decorating of wedding, birthday and corporate event cakes.
Attend food shows, sampling vendor products and taste testing new potential products.
Perform manager on duty to insure all visitor service areas are operating functionally.
Work with the Executive Chef to develop menu items.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Prefer degree in Food Services, Business, or related field and three to five years of experience in food service management, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Must possess required certification in food service sanitation. Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
