Tomorrow Water is hiring a Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer working remotely in the metro Atlanta area. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical engineering functions for the design and execution of water and wastewater equipment supply and construction projects.
- Approve equipment selection and shop drawing submittals.
- Design “packaged/skidded” as well as “build to spec” water treatment systems working with internal experts, consulting engineers and an understanding of client/market requirements.
- Review plans and specifications for completeness and consistency.
- Design and value engineering of company products, systems, and equipment specifications.
- Support water/wastewater supply projects from preliminary design and estimating; through detailed shop drawing development and approval; to procurement, construction and startup.
- Experience with ASME pressure vessels, ANSI valve/piping specs and equipment/piping supports
- Complete projects on time and budget with quality that meets clients’ needs and company standards.
- Review design documents prepared by other engineers, subcontractors, and drafters to ensure they meet the project scope, client’s needs, and company quality standards.
- Solicit bids from design subcontractors, review design documents prepare by others engineers subcontractors, and drafters
- Prepare material purchase specifications for mechanical components and auxiliary items related to a project.
- Preparation of purchase orders for design contracts and subcontracts.
- Apply the latest codes and engineering standards related to job tasks.
- Obtains and reviews plans and specifications and determines their completeness and consistency.
- Candidate shall have a basic understanding of Architectural, Electrical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices.
- Follow and implement document control procedures.
- Provide Field assistance where necessary.
- Some travel is required.
- Bachelor’s or master’s in mechanical engineering, PE Preferred
- Industry experience on the design of pumps, blowers, valves, piping, tanks, pipe supports, and typical equipment in water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Ideal candidate shall have experience with process equipment such as thermal treatment, tanks and pressure vessels, dewatering, digestion, biogas, heat recovery, drying.
- 10 years of demonstrated experience in Engineering and design of projects or product development activities for engineering firms, utility companies or utility technology providers.
- Knowledge of process and utility piping specifications and piping design experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of structural design for concrete and steel tanks/structures is preferred.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, AutoCAD, Solid Works or equivalent 3d design tools.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
