Job Posting for Global Director of Operations and Logistics at Too Good To Go

More than one third of the food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet, with 10% of greenhouse gas emissions coming from food waste!

At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious goal: To inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together. We are the world's #1 app for fighting food waste and we work with thousands of restaurants and food retailers to make their surplus food available to local consumers. The magic of Too Good To Go has expanded rapidly across Europe, the US, and Canada, with over 200 million meals saved across our 17 countries to date.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but did we mention the issue is huge? We always want to raise the bar and that’s where you come in.

Your mission at Too Good to Go…

We are seeking an exceptional Global Director of Operations & Logistics to join our recently established “Magic Parcel” (Manufacturing) business line, responsible for the planning, management, and optimization of all logistics, transportation, and warehouse-related activities.  In this role, you will be accountable for evaluating and selecting third-party logistics and fulfilment partners, negotiating commercial and legal terms, and collaborating with partners to define our processes for re-packing and fulfilling our purchased goods into “Magic Parcels".  The Global Director of Logistics & Operations will report directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing and will be part of the Global Manufacturing Leadership Team. This role will report directly to the VP of Manufacturing.

Our recently launched “Magic Parcel” (Manufacturing) business is a transformative solution that enables food manufacturers to effectively reduce food waste while extracting value from surplus food. Through direct purchasing from food manufacturers, Too Good To Go carefully curates and assembles the purchased products into “Magic Parcels”, which are then offered to our users at a discount of ~50% off of original retail (including shipping costs).  Sold through our existing B2C marketplace, customers can opt to have their parcel conveniently delivered to their doorstep or pick it up from a nearby location, creating a surprise element as customers unbox their Magic Parcel.  Instead of allowing these products to go to waste, manufacturers significantly decrease their environmental impact, optimise their revenue by maximising the value of saved food, and enhance product visibility in the market.

In the role, you will:

  • Responsible and accountable for the planning, management and optimization of all logistics, transportation and warehouse related activities for the Manufacturing business, including collaboration with 3rd party logistics (3PLs) and fulfilment partners
  • Evaluate and select third party logistics and fulfilment partners  and negotiate the associated commercial and legal terms and conditions
  • Partner with 3rd party logistics and fulfilment partners to define our  processes for re-packing and fulfilling our purchased goods into Magic Parcels
  • Develop logistics and fulfilment strategy and ensure effective implementation across our global markets
  • Monitor performance of selected logistics partners to ensure that the distribution of Magic Parcels are handled according to agreed SLAs and that products are shipped to appropriate destinations on time
  • Partner closely with the Purchasing and Supply Planning teams to ensure that we are efficiently managing inventory levels  and reducing obsolete inventory in warehouses
  • Collaborate closely  with the Global Head of Buying, the Associate Director Supply Planning, local country based Logistics Managers, and other cross functional partners to ensure execution against our Manufacturing goals
  • Support opening of new countries by owning the operational setup as well as the evaluation and selection of 3rd party logistics providers

You meet the following requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in a Senior logistics manager role (or similar), ideally within the food industry and/or a B2C marketplace
  • Experience establishing and managing cross-border logistics operations with multiple 3rd party transportation and fulfilment partners
  • Experience designing and optimising warehouse processes either as the directly responsible person or in partnership with a 3rd party logistics and fulfilment partner
  • Experience working directly with pan-European 3rd party shipping and delivery partners will be an advantage for the role
  • Experience with working in a global matrix organisation will be an advantage
  • Strong business acumen and commercial mindset
  • Strong collaboration and internal / external stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and planning skills
  • Exposure to (and preferably management of) complex logistics projects

Our values:

  • We win together: Food waste is a big beast to fight. We can do it if we win together as Waste Warriors with no ego. We believe in a #oneteam.
  • We raise the bar: We always push for more. We work smart, smash barriers and elevate one another.
  • We keep it simple: Our ambitions are bold but our solutions are simple.
  • We build a legacy: We’re proud of the change we’re driving.
  • We care: We always look out for each other. Caring is also about the way we do business. We do the right thing.

What we have to offer:

  • A rare opportunity to work in a social impact company (and certified B Corporation!) where you get to wake up every day knowing you’re achieving positive change.
  • The experience of being part of an international company with 1350 enthusiastic and highly talented teammates across 17 countries (and growing).
  • Strong personal as well as professional development in an intense and high-growth scale-up environment.
  • An open company culture where you have the independence and room to unleash your creativity.
  • A strong team culture where successes are celebrated together.

How to apply:

  • We take recruitment very seriously, so please carefully check the role requirements and see our website and international media for an overview of Too Good To Go.
  • Submit your CV and Cover letter in English.
  • Please note that we only accept applications coming through our platform. No CV or Cover Letter will be accepted by email or LinkedIn direct messaging.
