What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Product Design Engineer position at Torque3?
Join Torque3 to Make a Real Difference in People’s Lives!
At Torque3, we’re on a mission to restore lost functionality and independence to people who have suffered a stroke or TBI. Torque3 is a MedTech startup developing a unique solution that will revolutionize the way people recover after surviving a stroke or other traumatic brain injury, impacting lives around the world.
We are looking for people to join our small, dedicated team who get the impact of what we’re building here, are completely on board with positively impacting the lives of millions of people and understand their role in making that happen, willing to put in the extra effort (at times) and work as a team to meet critical deadlines, and of course – actually PREFER working in a low-key, fun environment that doesn’t have the usual Corporate BS.
About the Job
Torque3 is seeking a Product Design Engineer, this full-time, onsite position is located in Centerville, UT in the greater Salt Lake City area.
You will join our product team and report directly to the Product Manager. You will work closely with the Dir of Manufacturing to design the next generation of our prototype.
The scope of this role includes collaboration with project systems engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and the manufacturing team. The qualified candidate will be an experienced Design Engineer who has the ability to deliver complex, full product-level CAD-engineered parts and assemblies.
Torque3 has all the toys: We have a full spectrum prototyping team with the capability to do robotics, mechanical, electrical, programming and game development internally. Our fabrication shop is set up for industrial-level CNC machining, composite fabrication, and plastic printing with dedicated machinists operating the equipment.
Your Impact
You will have significant ownership of complex mechanisms and subassemblies that require a borderline-fanatical focus on finding the right blend of functionality, user experience, aesthetics, weight, strength, stiffness, and cost. All of which are integral to giving the neuro-impaired rider a sense of complete immersion and full embodiment on our platform.
Your accumulated technical expertise, design know-how, technology passion, and proven own-it attitude will be critical to launching our platform to the market in 2023.
In other words, you will have significant challenges to overcome, but in the end, developing this platform will likely be one of the most rewarding projects of your career and a whole lot of fun to design.
What You’ll Do

- Actively participate in initial prototyping/production to prevent and/or solve any engineering or manufacturing issues.
- Apply theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques. Analyze root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Must have experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize ease of manufacturing, cost, weight, and quality.
What You Bring
- Eight or more years of relevant design experience. You must be willing to show a portfolio.
- Must be able to show prior work that demonstrates CAD competency with chassis work and mechanical mechanisms.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor CAD software is preferred but not required.

About Us
Torque3 is a MedTech startup that is developing a breakthrough neurorehabilitation solution. We are developing a realistic simulator that combines immersive VR, advanced robotics, and task-orientated therapy. Our integrated system is designed to help stroke and TBI survivors increase their neuroplasticity, and thus, make substantial gains faster.
By joining the Torque3 team, you will be a part of something much greater than yourself. There are 8 million stroke survivors in the United States alone, and unfortunately, almost 800K new people will be joining that group each year. These people are facing months – even years of rehabilitation, with very little hope of ever getting back more than a fraction of their former lives. The Torque3 platform will help these people and their families to become whole again.
