General Job Description
A diligent HVAC/R Estimator will primarily be responsible for reviewing HVAC, Refrigeration, Heating, and any other relevant trade-related proposals for repair and replacement. This position will work directly with our technicians and staff to answer any industry-related questions and ensure we are in line with all industry best practices and pricing. The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills, an analytical mindset, and must be apt in managing relationships with key people. The goal is to provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth.
Main Job Responsibilities:
· Review and evaluate all repair and replacement proposals specific to commercial settings.
· Utilize experience to identify pricing errors, overcharges, and proper breakout to help control/monitor repair costs.
· Communicate with technicians, team members, and clients.
· Review and respond to work orders in a timely manner.
· Review work order history of location for prior system repairs.
· Develop internal and external partnerships and utilize influencing skills to secure the best service at the best cost to the Client.
· Other job-related duties may be reasonably assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
· 3-5 years experience within the HVAC industry.
· Ability to improve job costs by negotiating with vendors and providing alternate options when needed. Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities
· Understanding of various electrical drives, lighting and heating systems, control panels, conduits, power distribution systems, and alarm/monitoring systems. Ability to conduct research to ensure accuracy of all estimates.
· Workflow comprehension.
· Proficiency in preparing work orders, trade documents, and e-mail communications.
· Self-motivated and detail oriented. Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.
· High sense of urgency with ability to meet deadlines.
· Able to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
· Must have a good understanding of safety practices and be current on OSHA standards.
