Position Summary:
This position requires an experienced and innovative Sourcing Manager that knows how to be on the winning side of a negotiation, while managing Flow Safe’s supply and procurement operations for direct and indirect/MRO products. The professional must be committed to discovering cost-effective solutions and suppliers and building partnerships within the product line to help the company meet our performance goals and sustain Inventory Plan levels.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Sourcing/Purchasing for direct and indirect spend in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the utility industry
- Travel 15 to 25% from Houston, TX to Orchard Park, NY.
- ERP/MRP and manufacturing plant experience
- Experience in contract management and supplier negotiations
- Demonstrated leadership in communicating business goals / programs / processes for an area or business segment.
- Knowledge of Sourcing/Purchasing Department Procedures, Inventory Management, Sourcing Strategies and Purchasing controls.
- Proficient in Excel
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience and expertise to solve complex problems.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
In the role of Sourcing Manager, you will:
- Develop and implement a sourcing strategy by setting, tracking, and maintaining deflation, analyzing spend, and utilizing synergy commitments while meeting aggressive delivery timeframes
- Complete ownership of supplier performance (report card program) including supplier quality
- Holding a contract manufacturing facility accountable to Lead Time, OTD, Overdue Backlog, and Warranty metrics by enforcing the terms of the contract and working with the facility’s management.
- Keeping costs down with a contract manufacturing facility by means of contract terms and/or negotiation.
- Manage supplier relationships and develop strategic partnerships
- Mitigate supplier COQ and defects and maximize supplier recovery
- Negotiate and manage contracts and supply positions for raw materials, finished products and MRO supplies
- Lead End-to-End sourcing operations to meet business demand enabling growth and increased margin
- Analyze low-cost country vs domestic strategies and identify opportunities
- Communicate regularly with Sales and Ops teams to understand current and future demand and establish action plans accordingly
- Assist in developing global sourcing strategies to mitigate headwinds and improve security of supply chain
- Manage Purchasing function – establish & implement procedures and controls for the department
- Propose and implement mature sourcing policies
- Thorough understanding of S&OP process, including supply forecasting to develop clear communication of expectations and specifications
- Maintain thorough knowledge of market dynamics and commodity outlook.
- Communicate KPI’s strategies and results to the leadership team as required
- Prepare appropriate risk management for supply contracts and agreements (sole vs. single vs. multisource strategies)
- Manage inventory levels and inventory turns according to plan
- Lead and Monitor the inventory, SMI and excess balances & drive reduction initiatives
- Manage cycle counting program and transactional accuracy throughout the site.
