What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Affairs Coordinator position at Touro College of Dental Medicine?
The Student Affairs Coordinator (SAC) performs an essential role in supporting the activities of the Office of Student Affairs which serves over 450 dental students. This position is provides high-level administrative and organizational support to the Senior Director of Student Affairs as well as the College’s Dean. This position requires resourcefulness and excellent problem-solving and strong communication skills. The SAC must be efficient organized and team-oriented. The Student Affairs Coordinator deals with sensitive and highly-confidential matters. The Student Affairs Coordinator must communicate effectively (both writing and orally) with students, faculty, staff, and external organizations and must be detail oriented. Reporting to the Senior Director of Student Affairs, the Coordinator will assume duties requiring independent judgement and accountability for fulfilling functions of the job with limited direction. This position involves regular interaction with internal offices such as registrar, bursar, health services, and communications as well as external organizations. The role of the SAC is critical in connecting students with correct information and resources that directly impact their well-being and academic success. The Coordinator is also responsible for serving as a back-up point of contact in the absence of the Senior Director.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling student files and personal student information including grades, evaluations, and health records
Ensure that the student records are maintained and up to date with accurate student information by working together with the Registrar’s office.
Oversee and disseminate written communications and provide information to students either independently or on behalf of the Senior Director of Student Affairs.
Provide targeted support to the Student Government Association
Maintain and update the TCDM academic calendar, Student Handbook, Course Catalogues, and Student Affairs webpage
Responsible for the Hospital/Externship Rotation process; ensuring completion of student applications, maintaining records, confirming student placement, and assisting with the lottery process.
Coordinate the residency application process including scheduling student meetings, information sessions, and submitting Institution Evaluation Forms (Dean’s Letters) for fourth year dental students applying for residency programs.
Assist with the planning and oversight of all TCDM major events and campus wide events including but not limited to: White Coat SGA events and meetings, residency fair, dean luncheons, orientation, Commencement etc.
Contribute to overall student success and participate in planning and support for student events including occasional weekends
Other tasks and duties as may be requested by management from time to time.
Education/ Experience
Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of experience working in an educational setting
At least 3-5 years higher ed preferred or other relevant office experience
Able to lift up to 5 lbs
This position requires compliance with Touro's Vaccine Mandate policy
Travel
Reliable transportation and the ability to work occasional overtime including some evening and weekend college events
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
