The Town of Acton is seeking applicants for the part time position of the Public Health Nurse working within the Acton Nursing Department.
General Duties and Responsibilities: This position will provide quality public health nursing care in the community and at the Council on Aging. This position will provide surveillance of reportable infections diseases under the direction of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. In this role, you will complete case investigations and enter the data into MAVEN and confer with the Board of Health and health care providers in managing cases. This position will implement Department of Public Health guidelines and will make home visits and home safety checks to residents, especially those with TB cases. Will work in conjunction with community partners and town offices to identify and meet public health needs within the community. Develops, researches, and conducts health education presentations and discussions and coordinates, plans, and executes immunization clinics. Will conduct Blood Pressure/Wellness Clinics two times a month, coordinates Public Health Programming, and participate in Town Health and Safety fairs. This position will maintain the immunization program which includes homebound residents with vaccines. This position will participate in the AD HOCK Task Force as it pertains to the role of Public Health Nurse. Coordinates and communicate with other MA Public Health nurses. And will support the Nursing and Health department with any other duties as required.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of public health nursing experience or related work. Licensing to practice nursing within Massachusetts. RN degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Driver’s License.
Pay Rate: I-14; $38.70 - $42.29/hr.
Benefits: Free transportation from the commuter rail station to the Council on Aging.
