What's The Job?
Working as an Equipment Operator, you can expect to: operate various equipment and vehicles to complete tasks related to the maintenance, upkeep, installation, and construction of Town grounds, property, utilities, rights-of-way, and other infrastructure for departmental operations; drive vehicles over public roads, work sites, rights-of-way, parks, public works facilities, and other County property; maneuver in and around traffic, parked cars, equipment, utilities, and other obstacles; monitor immediate environment and work area to ensure the safety of operator, other workers, the equipment, and the public; drive tractor-trailer rigs to transport solid waste, heavy construction equipment and/or other materials to and from the landfill, transfer stations, and work-sites; maneuvers equipment to load and unload from trailer, operating mechanisms as necessary to position for safe transportation.
Minimum Requirements:
Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of Equipment Operator:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One (1) year previous experience and/or training in equipment operation.
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL.
