TOWN ELECTRICIAN - NEW PAY RANGE (Open Positions: 1)

The Town of Falmouth is pleased to re-open the search for our next full-time Town Electrician with a new pay range of $34.73/hour to $43.93/hour (increasing to a range of $35.95/hour to $45.50/hour on July 1, 2024) with the potential for overtime opportunities, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  This is a benefited position that works 40 hours per week for the Facilities division of our DPW, Monday through Friday, from 7 am - 3:30 pm.

The Town Electrician performs skilled manual work in the installation and maintenance of electrical and related equipment for Town buildings, projects, and other related electrical duties.  Duties include installation, repairs, replacements, upgrades, and electrical equipment testing and wiring in all Town-owned buildings and properties, barring instances of life safety emergencies, in conformance with the Massachusetts Electrical Code. 

This position installs temporary electrical services as required by the Town at the direction of the Facilities Manager.  This position also assists, as required, in the inspection of wiring, under the supervision of the Building Commissioner, and in the maintenance of the Town's Fire Alarm system.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of related experience.  Applicants must have a valid Journeyman’s license.  Must have a working knowledge of the Massachusetts Electrical Code and all other regulations concerning wiring.  Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.  Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of all types of electrical installations in commercial and industrial buildings, as well as outdoor electrical utilities and infrastructure.

Moderate physical effort is required in performing routine job duties.  The Town Electrician may occasionally be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, must climb ladders, and may work outdoors in all weather conditions.  A valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Class 1C hoisting license are required.

Starting Pay:  $34.73/hour - $43.93/hour (increasing to a range of $35.95/hour to $45.50/hour on July 1, 2024), commensurate with qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits.
