HIGHWAY LABORER

The Town of Hampden Highway Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Highway Laborer. This position is responsible for the general maintenance of Town roads, Town sidewalks and Town properties under the direction of the Highway Superintendent. The successful candidate will be required to operate light motorized and hydraulic equipment and to participate in snow removal and sanding work as assigned. All applicants must possess a valid Class B CDL, 2B Hoisting License, and OSHA 10 certification. Qualified applicants must possess the skills and knowledge necessary to perform general road and grounds maintenance along with the ability to operate and maintain all associated tools and equipment. Applicants with the skills and experience to perform maintenance/repairs on trucks and equipment, welding, and the use of other garage tools, along with light construction and snowplowing experience will be favorably considered. The position is regularly scheduled for forty (40) hours per week (M-F 7:00 am to 3:30 pm) with occasional weekend and evening hours as required. Excellent retirement and health insurance benefits are provided. Starting base compensation is $28.73 per hour plus overtime rates when applicable.
