What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Town of Needham?
The Town of Needham is seeking qualified individuals to fill the full-time position of Custodian. Under the general supervision of the Senior Custodian, the Custodian will perform a variety of custodial duties in support of the maintenance of assigned municipal, school buildings, and adjacent grounds.
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Hours: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm

- Maintain and sanitize assigned areas using designated cleaning products, hand tools, and electrically operated buffers, strippers, waxers, vacuum cleaners, and shampooers.
- Perform duties such as sweeping, washing, waxing, and polishing building floors and stairways; cleaning and dusting furniture; polishing conference tables and countertops; emptying waste and recycling containers and cleaning restrooms.
- Maintain landscaping and snow removal at entrances, stairs, ramps, lawns and sidewalks adjacent to the building.
- Inspect assigned area and identify maintenance needs and/or safety hazards by correcting hazards when appropriate or submitting work order when additional support is necessary.
- Maintain proper inventory and stock of all cleaning supplies including but not limited to paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, and cleaning chemicals.
- Provide routine security of facility including monitoring hallways. Ensuring that windows and doors are locked, and setting alarms when leaving the facility.
- Participate in the Town’s snow removal program.
- Completion of four (4) years of high school or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
Pre-Hire Process:

- Applicants working in a Needham Public School Building are subject to a separate CORI check and fingerprints for the national criminal background check as a condition of employment.

Salary : $23 - $28
