Clerk III – Assessor’s Office

Reports to: Assessor

Status: Full-Time

Schedule: M-F, 8 am – 4:30 p

Salary: $25.1033 - $28.7948/Hourly; $48,951.56 – $56,149.89/Annually

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Union/Non Union: AFSCME Local 1303-408

Summary:

Under general supervision of the Assessor and Assistant Assessor, performs clerical work of some complexity and variety. Enters and retrieves information through computer terminal, and provides such services as mail, email, telephone and customer service information/reception to the public – requiring a knowledge of department programs and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs general receptionist duties. Relieves staff of office detail work. Receives oral and/or written instructions from supervisor. Plans work according to established office procedures. Enters and retrieves information through assessment systems. Assists and provides information to attorneys, banking officials and members of the general public. Classifies and files materials such as correspondence, reports and technical documents in an established filing system. Types letters, reports, and/or forms from prepared material or rough copy. May compose letters or reports for review and signature by supervisor. Retrieves information from files and prepares information for supervisors or public. Provides information and referral services to public regarding department and/or Town programs and procedures. Performs mathematical computations requiring absolute accuracy as needed. Operates office equipment such as calculators, scanners and copiers. May maintain limited financial records of department. Works in typical office setting subject to interruption, heavy traffic flow and heavy work volume expectations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year general office work experience
  • Prior clerical experience in a government office or service business is preferred
  • CCMA 1A or CCMA 1B courses preferred
