Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Protein Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Food Science
- Experience in ingredient or food companies with focus on protein functionalities and performance in various applications is desired
- Experience in confectionary products strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of the principles of proteins and their application in food
- Experience in analytical and/or characterization techniques involving protein ingredients and food systems
- Working knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis tools
Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine plant-based and animal-based protein products to meet consumer requirements
- Apply protein characterization tools and protein chemistry knowledge to increase structure- function understanding of protein ingredients in various applications, including confectionary products
- Serve as internal protein chemistry expert support product and process development
- Develop new products derived from protein raw materials supporting company protein strategy
- Develop cost effective and clean process supporting company protein strategy
- Participate in cross functional teams that may include sales, marketing, operations, R&D, applications, senior leadership, procurement, customers, and suppliers as a subject mater expert in protein functionality
- Manage projects including timelines, budgets, and outcomes
Working Conditions:
The Food Scientist will work in a confined, controlled environment for extended periods of time alone or in a team setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee will be required to sit for long periods of time. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk between multiple office locations that include the use of stairs (elevator is only available in some instances).
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
