TPD is seeking an experienced bridge engineer who will be responsible for managing design projects for PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other agency/county/municipal clients out of TPD’s Pittsburgh Office. Primary responsibilities will include project management, design management, personnel management, business development, budgeting, and proposal preparation.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of managing and delivering agency projects in Pennsylvania or other nearby states. We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate most, if not all of the following attributes, qualifications, and skills:
- Experience working with MicroStation, PennDOT ECMS, and Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience with superstructure design, substructure design, foundation design, geometric layout, drawing preparations/checking, structural analysis, design of other transportation-related structures (retaining walls, sound walls, sign structures), performing QC checking, etc.
- Experience or familiarity with project delivery processes per PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission policies and procedures.
- Experience with PA Turnpike and PennDOT districts 10-0, 11-0, and 12-0 (preferred).
- Familiarity with clearance processes (e.g. Environmental, Utility, Right-of-Way clearances).
- Familiarity with environmental permitting requirements and procedures.
- Familiarity with traffic engineering aspects, such as signing and pavement marking plans and traffic control plans.
- General knowledge of highway construction methods and ability to manage the preparation of pre-bid construction schedules and pre-bid construction cost estimates. General understanding of PennDOT/ PA Turnpike items, quantities, and specifications.
- Ability to assist with the preparation of proposals.
- Ability to represent TPD professionally at meetings with clients, stakeholders, or the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively via e-mail and via phone.
- Ability to manage others and facilitate teamwork.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and monitor design schedules and budgets
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- 8 years of applicable project management and bridge design experience.
- Valid Professional Engineers license in Pennsylvania (preferred) or the ability to obtain a Pennsylvania license within 6 months.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-Motivated with the ability to get things done.
- Valid Driver's License
