Overview of Position:
The Safety and Training Supervisor, under the direction of the Safety & Training Manager, will be responsible for the proper training of designated employees according to federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
This position assists in the coordination of all safety education programs for the property
Conducts and coordinates driver training activities including initial training and retraining, utilization and supervision of Driver Trainers and the Driver Training Program.
Assists with Classroom training and Behind the Wheel Training in the absence of designated trainers.
Assists the Safety and Training Director in reporting incidents and subrogating collisions.
Responds to and investigates accidents/incidents to include taking photos of accident/incident scene, interviewing involved parties, and assisting with police reports.
Coordinates Safety Meetings and oversees Drive Program.
Coordinates and ensures compliance with the substance abuse testing program using Federal and Company standards.
Maintains personnel and qualification files pertaining to new hire, training, safety and loss matters.
Coordinates employee return to work with Human Resource Department.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:Education, Licensing, and Certifications :
High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required
Must have Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and airbrakes endorsements.
Must be able to obtain and maintain DOT Physical examination.

Experience :
Three (3) years transit related experience and/or training, including a minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience in a transit/transportation environment.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of Fixed Route Transit specific service in the transportation industry
Driver training experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge Required:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence as well as reports.
Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Bilingual communication skills are a plus
Basic knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite with word processing, and spreadsheets,. Experience using Internet software, e-mail, and/or database software preferred.
Ability to follow written or verbal instructions
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
Ability to manage time and work with minimum supervision
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate well via the written word or verbally
Ability to maintain a flexible attitude and approach to assignments
Must be able to read a map and possess knowledge of the service area.
Must be able to work flexible hours. You may be called in to work after hours, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to operate the company vehicle without the use of DOT prohibited adaptations
Proven interpersonal skills dealing with the public required
Must be able to conceptualize process flow in establishing policies and procedures
Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, providers and make public presentations

Pre-Employment Requirements:
You must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
Testing related to job requirements

Physical Requirements:
70% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities.
30% of work is accomplished outside or in a vehicle.
Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of passengers and materials
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
Must be able to operate the company vehicle without the use of DOT prohibited adaptations
