Dispatcher

Role and Responsibilities:

The Dispatcher is to match drivers with loads, help secure adequate capacity for company’s assets, and then plan the transportation of the loads from shippers to destinations. The summary of job duties and responsibilities are not inclusive to every task for this position.

· Learn business from ground up through hands on training that includes exposure to customer service, geographical load analysis, and equipment management

· Balancing and maintaining equipment availability by routing local drivers with coverage needs for our customers who ship regionally to and from Kansas City.

· Pairing trucks that are empty or unloading soon with freight needing to be picked up, and confirming dispatch assignments with other departments, and direct customer contact.

· Implementing contingency logistics plans to secure on-time freight delivery in the event of accident or breakdown

· Ensuring efficient turnaround time for loads to minimize drivers down-time

· Manage daily workflow, continually talk to drivers and provide updates to customers via email, websites or phone calls

· Prioritize load management between TLSI (our brokerage company) and Cayman Express, our asset company.

· Cayman has a 3rd shift employee but there is occasional after hours coordination with the handover to 3rd shift employee of Cayman Express.

· Order entry/Driver rating

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Previous experience in the Transportation Industry-preferably 3-5 years

Past experience of brokering/sales with negotiating and closing deals

Preferred Skills:

Ability to multi task, work in a team environment in high pressure situations

Management of customers and carriers

Positive Attitude

Strong Geographical knowledge and problem solving skills

Strong knowledge of DOT/Safety/HOS regulations and law

Knowledge of rating and providing quotes

Bonus – Rail shipment knowledge and processes

Cost management

Strong written and oral communication skills are essential

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
