Job Description:

  • NP opportunity to join a multidisciplinary (Facial Trauma, ENT, Maxillofacial) hospital-based trauma service. This position will treat and care for an assortment of complex facial trauma and other facial subspecialty patients with a group of well-trained surgeons.
  • You will function as a mid-level provider for a surgical and acute care multispecialty hospital call group. TESS (Trauma and Emergency Subspecialty Surgeons) is a multispecialty (Facial Trauma, ENT, Oral Surgery, Ophthalmology) group that handles the on-call trauma panels at Swedish Medical Center, Sky Ridge Medical Center, Medical Center of Aurora, North Suburban Medical Center, UC Highlands Ranch, and Littleton Hospital. TESS has over thirty providers (MD, DDS, DO) that cover the different specialties at each hospital. When on-call, our providers cover multiple hospitals simultaneously.
  • The role of our NPs is to assist our on-call providers while they are covering multiple hospitals in addition to operating their private offices. This includes responding to initial ED, and in-patient hospital consults; Triaging the consults for the on-call provider; Acting as first assist on surgical cases; Repairing complex lacerations in the hospital, ED or ICU; Rounding on post-operative patients; Coordinating/overseeing the discharge of these patients from the hospital.
  • LOCATION: The new NP will primarily work between The Medical Center of Aurora and North Suburban Medical Center. This position may require occasional flex to Swedish Medical Center, Sky Ridge, Littleton, and UCH Highlands Ranch Hospital.

CLINICAL

  • Service Lines: Facial Trauma, ENT, Oral Surgery, and Ophthalmology.
  • Work Week: Currently hiring Full-Time for M-F with potential rotating weekend coverage.
  • Triage ED patients, floor consults, ICU. Communicate with requesting physician, nurse, patient and/or patient family, and consulting TESS provider.
  • Schedule OR trips; Updating H P; Ordering pre-op labs, and medications; Confirming NPO status; Obtaining surgical consents; Writing post-op and discharge orders; Discharge summary.
  • Surgical first-assist on TESS patients taken to the OR.
  • Independently treating complex facial lacerations with physician oversite.
  • Daily rounds on post-surgical, and in-patients. Coordinating care with consulting TESS surgeon and providing documentation in the chart. Preparing patient for discharge, including patient education, and coordinating out-patient follow-up with consultant.

Qualified candidates will need the following:

  • 1 year of experience in a clinical or advanced practice setting, preferred.
  • New grads will be considered with prior RN experience in at least one of the following areas: ICU, ER, Trauma, or ENT.
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to Facial Trauma and ENT
  • RN License required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association
  • Have Prescriptive Authority (or provisional prescriptive authority)
  • Current privileges at HCA facilities is preferred

Pay:

  • Salary is $110,000 plus a percentage of all claim billings.
  • Training Period: There is typically a three month training period to allow time for new NP to get credentialed at area hospitals. During this training period, salary will be paid at 1/2 rate. Depending on your current experience and/or if you are already credentialed, the training period may be shorter.
