What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material planner position at TREMEC?
Responsible to develop and implement material plans for production, warehousing, inventory levels and delivery to meet internal / external customer demand with consideration of working capital, timing and available resources.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate with the Suppliers and Outside Processors on daily demand and delivery issues to include Invoice Concerns
- Manage activities related to material requirements planning (MRP), procurement, and inventory control and warehousing.
- Establish appropriate inventory targets and implement pull system (KanBan) where feasible to prevent stock outs and excess inventories
- Analyze and determine min / max levels of raw materials, WIP and finished goods in conjunction with master scheduler and capacity plan.
- Create dispute reports for premium freight, rating violations and additional incidents directed by Material Manager
- Monitor slow moving, obsolete and consigned material and adjust as required
- Complete behind Schedule Report with explanation of each occurrence and what is being done to correct issue
- Assist in counting, repacking, creating shippers and or labels when behind schedule to internal and external customers
- Complete daily / weekly Supplier cum reconciliation
- Create and Maintain Supplier Delivery Calendar updating changes weekly
- Enter all scheduled releases to Suppliers weekly listing demand changes and trending elements( check Supplier contracts as required)
- Provide data as required by Materials Manager to address Edit reports
- Identify and coordinate Supplier schedule corrections and resolution with Program management, Purchasing and the Plant.
- Assist Packaging Engineer with Container / Dunnage specifications and requirements
- Provide documented evidence of ongoing Supplier issues not resolved in a timely fashion (1 week)
- Ensure inventory locations for plant, warehouses and processors are accurate
- Track Hot Shipments for all Suppliers and coordinate critical timing and delivery to Production and Supply Chain Team members
- Assist Master Scheduler and ECN Coordinator with Engineering changes and establishing break points. Reconcile demand / changes against breakpoints
- Assist in identifying / resolving contract issues for ECN, Labels and shipping
- Notify Materials Manager of support issues and incomplete assignments / tasks
- Create daily follow-up task list and or action register to resolve open issues
- Participate in annual / semi-annual physical inventories as directed
- Maintain parts information in SAP
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 year degree required, 4 year degree preferred in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business
- Requires 5- 10 years of experience material planning in an automotive manufacturing environment
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Word, and Excel
- Detailed understanding and experience in MRP with working knowledge of QAD, SAP, or Oracle with EDI transmissions. (SAP Preferred)
- Able to work in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to process time sensitive information and orders to meet deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Accurate document control and validation
