Position Summary
/Procurement Manager is responsible for negotiation, procurement, inventory control, and business system maintenance to ensure that the necessary products are available for the on-time fulfillment of production. This role will focus on cost reductions, supplier quality, supplier service levels, and grading/management of suppliers. This role will strive to satisfy the needs of customers with on time delivery and continuous improvement in quality, products and services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute strategic procurement plan to manage component life cycle and determine methods to mitigate part shortage risks due to obsolescence, LTB, and EOL
- Procure all necessary parts, components, and supplies to support production, engineering, new product introductions, and repair needs along with general MRO needs
- Manage real-time material demand fluctuations and execute order placement accordingly and evaluate/determine the necessitation of investment buys
- Lead and supervise buyers to ensure the purchasing group is continuously developing to meet organizational goals
- Supplier maintenance, management, and measurement to ensure targeted on-time delivery, quality and pricing goals of the company
- Set and attain PPV (purchase price variance) goals and/or cost reductions
- Serve as a liaison between the company and suppliers for corrective actions and quality concerns
- Participate in continuous improvement projects relating to supply chain optimization (Kanban, EOQ determination, JIT, PFEP, etc.)
Requirements
Required:
- BS degree or equivalent purchasing experience
- 3-5 years purchasing experience in high tech/electronics or similar
- Strong negotiation skills
- Focus driven, flexible, adaptable. and maintains positive reaction to the current supply chain impacts, business needs and evolving strategies.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office suite, ERP, and JIT processes
- VMI (vendor managed inventory) Systems and processes
- Solid understanding of demand-based planning and procurement (Kanban systems and visual factory)
Desired:
- 1 – 2 years experience in SMD component purchasing
