Job Summary
The Assistant Parts Manager is responsible for assisting the Parts Manager in maintaining and improving the sales growth and profitability of the department by meeting or exceeding established sales and inventory objectives and ratios. In addition, the Assistant Parts Manager is responsible for various management level dealership responsibilities such as opening and closing the dealerships, and holding a key and alarm code for the dealership.
In the absence of the Parts Manager, the Assistant Parts Manager is responsible for shipping and receiving, inventory, and mark downs / potential discounts in addition to upper level management duties such as department buying, order submission, transactional accounting, and/or supervising department staff,
The Assistant Parts Manager will also assist the Parts Manager with purchasing, vendor relations, negotiating returns / warranty issues, and the restocking and remerchandising of all parts displays on a regular basis in addition to standard Parts Counter duties. Lastly, the Assistant Parts Manager will perform day to day parts transactions, over the counter and on the phone, both internally and externally.

1. Diligently promotes a sales focused environment that utilizes the company’s sales process and customer satisfaction expectations to encourage additional sales.
2. Practices and impliments professional and modern merchandising techniques throughout the parts and service departments to enhance sales and clear aged inventory.
3. Work directly with Service Manager to understand specific needs of the department, and coordinate Parts to Service transactions accurately and efficiently. Strive to maintain appropriate inventory to support the Service Department’s needs while staying within inventory budgets.
4. Achieving maximum customer satisfaction to the degree in which business activities and the practices of the departments are distinguished and valued in the minds of our customers.
5. Accurate and timely completion of any and all management duties when Parts Manager is absent; including personnel, inventory, revenue, gross profit, and customer satisfaction management.
6. Quality of vendor relations, and effectiveness in maximizing value for the department / dealership for both purchases and returns.
7. Coaching, motivating, and training PG&A, Sales and Service Staff to capitalize on every opportunity to sell product.
Principle Activities Include
1. Assist in maintaining sound management practices to ensure Parts and Accessories, and Motorclothes Departments contribute acceptable levels of gross and net profit to the dealership.
2. Manages the department during Parts Manger’s absence, including (but not limited to):
a. Completing P/A, Apparel, and aftermarket Purchase Order Submission.
b. Managing customer service / warranty situations with the goal of profitably exceeding customer expectations.
c. Manage the Receiving Department, prioritizing time sensitive merchandise, and maintaining organized purchase order records. Also coordinating product returns to ensure receipt of full credit.
d. Manage Parts to Service Specialist to ensure inventory and order accuracy, and monitor charging of inventory to Repair orders.
e. Manage merchandise displays in connection with season, special events, holidays, etc.
3. Sets standards of cleanliness and orderliness of inventory and department in general. Allots time and coordinates staff for daily restocking and cleaning of showroom environment. Performs/supervises weekly, monthly, seasonal merchandising of the showroom to maximize selling opportunity, while reducing opportunity for theft, and keep a fresh look in the department that is seasonally correct.
4. Work directly with the Service Department to provide parts support as needed (inventory management, special orders, etc.)
5. Conduct daily Parts Counter Transactions for both internal and external customers.
6. Provide exceptional customer service by quickly greeting all customers, courteously handling telephone transactions, and informing customers about current sales or specials Assist in managing departmental work schedule, balancing employee workload, setting employee job assignments, and managing employee performance.
7. By working with the Parts Manager, works towards managing up to 25% of the inventory (buying, selling, returns, accuracy, etc) with maximum return on investment, gross profit and inventory turns.
8. Handle customer complaints reasonably, with a positive attitude, and demonstrate our commitment to Superior Customer Service.
9. Proactively brings potential problems / variances in inventory / budgets (in any sector – revenue, markdowns, inventory purchasing, etc.) to the attention of the Parts Manager, and works with staff to manage a perpetual audit of inventory against computer.
10. Coach, develop, and refine the Parts Department team to ultimately reach their full potential, and meet and exceed their individual sales goals / customer service expectations.
11. Contribute to the Parts Manager’s development and maintenance of department budgets for each product category, and set goals / strategize on how to meet or exceed projected budget.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
