What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm Maintenance Manager position at Tri Pork Inc.,?
Tri Pork Inc is a family grain and farrow to finish farm located outside Lincoln, IL. One is expected to have the ability to work in all aspects of the farm. From caring for animals at times to operating equipment during harvest and or planting season. General property maintenance will be the primary responsibility from building, repairs, welding and light construction. In addition, during peak season, time will primarily be focused upon grain handling and delivery. Previous on-farm hog production experience is desired, but we are willing to train the right individuals in all aspects.
This will include monitoring the health and wellbeing of the pigs as well as feeding, feed delivery systems, water systems and building maintenance. One will work directly with other farm employees to ensure the animal’s needs are met every day and production goals are attained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
- Make sure animals have feed, water and ventilation systems are working properly
- Maintain the farm facility in a clean and operating order
- Operate standard farm equipment such as tractor, skid steer, feed wagon, tillage and grain handling equipment
- Keep all equipment and vehicles clean
- Must have drivers license and reliable transportation
Hours are a minimum Monday to Friday 7-4 and weekend availability is required. During peak season there is opportunity to attain additional hours.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in safe animal handling practices or willingness to learn about these practices
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to identify risks that could affect the livestock’s well-being
- Capability to react quickly to unpredictable livestock behaviors
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently
