The idea candidate performs general security work in the protection of persons, property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and regulations of the department, Mercy Medical Center and any applicable federal, state, and local laws to prevent losses due to accidents and incidents. May be required to occasionally perform security related duties at other Mercy Medical Center Springfield Market locations as needed.
Provides for the safety and security of all persons and property for patients, visitors, and staff on the hospital campus. Participates as a member of the “Restraint Team” during “Code Yellow” events as directed by doctor, nurse or lead person in charge of the “Restraint Team”.
Patrols assigned areas of the facilities and grounds on foot or car (drivers must be 21 y/o or older with valid driver's license) according to established schedule and investigate unusual occurrences. Reports incidents or apparent damage, or loss of patient, visitor, or hospital property through fire, theft, vandalism or other unusual occurrences.

You Will Be Responsible For:
- Exceptional Patient Care: Must understand we exist for the patients and make their care the number one priority.
- Excellent Communicator: Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with colleagues, patients and family member.
- Active Teamwork: Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.
Requirements:
- Education: Certification as a security officer or graduation from a police academy preferred. Knowledge of security and law enforcement practices a plus.
- Licensure: Valid driver’s license
