Student Nurse Assistant (SNA) – Psychiatric Unit 3-6
- 30 bed acute care unit providing an interdisciplinary approach to care for emotionally ill adult patients on a voluntary or involuntary status.
- We care for patients with a wide variety of psychiatric and substance use disorders.
- Our unit is devoted to individualized care in a safe and secure environment ensuring dignity and respect for all those we serve.
- Our primary nursing care model develops an individualized plan of care that includes a full range of individual and group sessions, psychotherapies, medications, ECT treatments and other rehab modalities.
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- Be matriculated in a RN nursing program, and successfully completed the clinical component of the first semester nursing course with at least 90 hours of clinical practice.
- Once application is received and reviewed, the student will need recommendation from the Dean of the academic program in which the student is matriculated.

What you will do:
- An SNA serves as a bedside nurse, caring for an assignment of patients, under the supervision of an RN.
- The SNA is responsible for the patient’s daily care (bathing, walking, feeding, changing linens, etc.), along with vitals, intake/output, assisting the RN with tasks, or any delegated tasks within the SNAs scope of practice.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients
- Work varying shifts, weekend and holiday rotations

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:
- On track for graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Maintains current BLS/CPR certification.
- Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
Work Environment and Hazards:

Physical Demands:
- Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.
