ABOUT THE POSITION:
We are seeking a motivated counter sales representative to join our company. The Counter Sales Associate is responsible for selling items to the general public, pick parts for customer orders and pack them up in a timely matter. This position calls for someone who has high energy, is a team player, and maintains focus throughout a whole day. In addition, they must be affective at handling customers both on the phone and at the counter.

Responsibilities
- Sell products and meet the customer's needs.
- Write up all orders promptly as received, ensuring the accuracy of all relevant details (e.g. specifications, processing requirements, shipping and handling, etc.)
- Take all relevant cost factors into consideration when developing quotes and ensure that quoted prices will be sufficient to deliver expected gross margins.
- Review the total in-stock and on order position to determine material availability and to anticipate potential excess and aged inventory issues.
- Be an advocate for the customer in dealings with various departments such as Credit, Operations, Shipping and Purchasing.
- Understand the gross margin performance that is expected from your accounts.
- Review the profit performance of accounts on a regular basis and look for ways (e.g. pricing, product mix, processing set-ups, freight, etc.) to improve.
- Assist in handling customer complaints and concerns and make sure the problem is corrected to the customer and company’s satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Ability to speak effectively one on one.
- Previous interaction and experience working with customers, preferably within the steel industry. Highly developed customer service skills.
- Excellent communications and telephone sales personality skills.
- Effective time management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize day-to-day activities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Stelplan experience is a plus.
- Ability to effectively listen.
- Ability to interpret customer needs.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Good organizational skills.
