What are the responsibilities and job description for the Delivery Technician position at TRUENET COMMUNICATIONS CORP?
The Delivery Technician is responsible for transporting goods and materials to various worksites as needed. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)
Essential Position Functions:
- Responsible for safely operating a delivery vehicle, up to 26’ in length, over long distances.
- Able to use GPS or other navigation tools to follow the most efficient routes.
- Must adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Ability to plan routes to ensure timely material delivery.
- Manage driving hours to comply with DOT regulations regarding rest and driving time.
- Schedule deliveries and pickups according to company timelines and customer needs.
- Check the condition of the materials for signs of damage or tampering.
- Verify the quantity and type of materials match the bill of materials, bill of lading, packing lists, etc.
- Document and escalate any discrepancies or damages and report them to your supervisor immediately.
- Take and keep photos of materials delivered or upon handoff to a crew.
- Safely loading and unloading materials from the vehicle.
- Ensure materials are securely fastened to prevent damage during transit.
- Use equipment like pallet jacks, or hand trucks as needed.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or vehicle issues promptly.
- Communicate with management and crews to confirm delivery details.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips.
- Keep the vehicle clean and presentable.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety and delivery operations.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Provide updates to supervisors on delivery status.
- Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
- Must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
- Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
