RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Skills:
- Maintains a library of professional resources applicable to the management of aberrant behavior for use by both staff and parents
- Assesses, manages, and monitors program environment to provide appropriate social/emotional/behavioral supports on a daily basis
- Provides in-service programs for staff with topics to include the management and modification of student behavior, trauma, the learning process, legal/ethical issues, etc.
- Meets with individual staff to strategize behavior management techniques specific to individual students and group of students
- Implements a referral system for behavior intervention services for staff in programs
- Monitors the effectiveness of level systems in place by collecting, interpreting, recording and disseminating data. Propose modifications to the system as necessary.
- Assists and communicates with staff on a regular basis to problem-solve and provide creative solutions to difficult student situations
- Coordinates and facilitates all aspects of the completion of functional behavioral analyses and individual behavior management plans
- Assists in transition planning for students returning to a less restrictive environment and/or graduating from High School
- Provides direct support and intervention to staff and students before, during, and after a crisis
- Communicates with parents and outside resources regarding student social/emotional/behavioral needs, as necessary
- Eligible to complete certification in a crisis intervention program as a trainer. Assists with training new staff each year as well as hold regular retraining, refresher course for veteran staff.
- Co-chairs the crisis management team as appropriate
- Coordinates and monitors a system of positive rewards for students, including, but not limited to, the school store, incentive program (raffles, special lunches, bonus gym time, etc.) and field trips
- Provides staff coverage in classrooms, as needed
