POSITION TITLE: Behavior Specialist

SITES: District-Wide

REPORTS TO: EC Director

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month

SALARY: Salary - TBD by qualifications and experience

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
  • Required or be willing to become a certified Crisis Prevention and Intervention instructor
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an approved education program
  • Hold or be eligible to hold an appropriate NC Exceptional Children's License from the NC Department of Public Instruction or maintain the requirements to be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst
  • Experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors
  • Experience in developing and implementing behavior interventions while tracking and analyzing student data

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in staff development workshops as directed by Exceptional Children's Director
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, community agencies, and parents to link students and families to appropriate support
  • Provide on-going consultation and coaching to implement appropriate behavioral supports and interventions for students with behavioral needs
  • Provide direct behavioral support services to identified students
  • Supervise duties and schedule for traveling behavior assistant
  • Collect and analyze behavior data for students and teachers
  • Support district mental health team and school crisis teams
  • Assist classroom teachers with implementing behavior management strategies as specified by Behavior Intervention Plan; focusing on teaching replacement behaviors
  • Collaborate with the MTSS District Coordinator to develop a working knowledge of Core behavior supports and support the evolution of behavior interventions
  • Assess the need for Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan including the development of effective data collections systems
  • Collect and maintain weekly documentation on the progress of students to demonstrate progress toward goals and to identify skills acquired
  • Provide training to staff on the execution and active monitoring of Behavioral Intervention Plans to ensure consistent implementation with fidelity
  • Display strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all pertinent federal, state, and district regulations and policies
  • Assist with overseeing processes for students on modified-day or home bound
  • Submit reports required by the program
  • Assist with writing the PRC 29 grant and identifying areas of need and targeted goals
  • All other duties as assigned by the EC Director
