What is Summit Academy? Summit Academy is a small, private, and therapeutic special education day school off of Salisbury Street in Worcester, MA. We currently have a total of 25 students in our school, ranging from K through 12th grade. Our student population has diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as other related diagnoses. Our school focuses on academic growth and increasing appropriate social skills while decreasing challenging behaviors. Who are we looking for? We are looking for an energetic and dedicated special education teacher to join our Summit family! This teacher will be the classroom teacher of the self-contained classroom, where all subjects will be taught, and the students range from K through 3rd grade. This classroom is brand new to our school this year and we are excited to continue to watch it grow under the leadership of a strong classroom teacher, as well as a team of dedicated lead teachers, BCBA, and administration. Our School Year Our school year is 198 days (early August through late June), and we offer an optional (for staff and students) summer program in July. Minimum Qualifications •Bachelor's degree in Education, Master's preferred •1 year of experience in special education, education, and/or related field •Knowledge of and experience with Applied Behavior Analysis preferred •Knowledge of IEP goal setting process preferred •Ability to apply for Massachusetts teacher's certification
