Description of Secondary MTSS Behavior Coach/Interventionist Positions (Grades 5-12)

The MTSS Behavior Coach/Interventionist position provides leadership and direction at the school level, working to design, implement, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive behavior support program in partnership with students, teachers, and families of at-risk students. This position focuses on working directly and aggressively with identified students to adopt behaviors and supports that substantially improve behaviors. These students are struggling with behavior and self-regulation, who have been identified by the MTSS Team, administrators or classroom teachers as requiring substantial supplemental behavior intervention and support. Under the supervision of the building principal and district representative, the MTSS Behavior Coach/Interventionist will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted students.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and support Truancy and attendance
  • Monitor SWIS Data-Staff PD/Coaching
  • Restorative Practices with students and staff
  • Support students with behavior choices, understanding behaviors, and assigning consequences utilizing the handbook
  • Follow up with staff regarding behaviors
  • Coordinate and implement PBIS and the rewards distribution
  • Coordinate attendance rewards for MS/HS
  • Use equity based practices with disciplinary practices
  • Attend Kid Network meetings
  • Collaborate with School Resource Officer to support students
  • Put interventions into place for students with behavior needs using data
  • Track behavior trends and progress and share with principal
  • Attend building MTSS meetings
  • Supports implementation of Capturing Kids' Hearts
  • Coach staff in defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents.
  • Build rapport with students and staff
  • Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions
  • Implements student handbook policies/procedures
  • Implements MTSS handbook policies/procedures
  • Effectively manage student discipline issues in cooperation with the Principal, Counselor, and the Special Education Director.
  • Actively lead anti-bullying initiatives and crisis intervention programs within the schools.
  • Facilitates student behavioral intervention plan
  • Conducts wrap around meetings with families and other key staff, offering families varied supports

This is a 31A funded grant position.

Salary range: $50,000 - $80,000 based on prior experience.

Preference given to those who have worked three or more years in a secondary setting.

Reports to the Middle and High School Principal.
