Job Summary Pine Cobble School is seeking a STEAM teacher to provide a hands-on science and engineering instructional program and a classroom environment favorable to the academic and social-emotional growth of students in grades 1-5. We are seeking a candidate who is excited to incorporate place-based instruction into the STEAM program, using Pine Cobble's 17-acre campus and the surrounding landscape as a learning laboratory. We are seeking a candidate who is also passionate about helping students understand and address issues of equity and environmental justice in and through science, engineering, and design. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plans and implements a program that follows the approved curriculum standards, goals, and objectives Uses hands-on, effective teaching techniques, materials, and educational experiences to support STEAM instruction within curriculum guidelines Establishes effective rapport with students to motivate students to develop the foundational skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary for success in middle school STEAM/science education Establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members Prioritizes equity and inclusion in instructional practices, as well as in interactions with students, families, and colleagues Coordinates with classroom teachers to best support student growth Observes, records, and analyzes student academic progress and social-emotional growth in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students, their parents, and, as needed, administration throughout the year and in narratives for term reports Establishes and maintains fair and just standards for student behavior needed to achieve an effective and safe learning environment Cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing student needs and providing resources to support social-emotional success and differentiated instruction Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small-group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student Translates lesson plans into learning experiences in a manner that best utilizes available time for instruction Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and self-selected professional growth activities Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records Participates in curriculum development programs as required Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day, including field trips, service days, and field days Carries out any other duties that may be reasonably assigned by administration
