Job Summary
As a construction administrator, you will handle the operations and management side of the construction process on any given project, monitor contracts, process billing, keep track of documents, document and organize document files, arrange project schedules, supervise workers, arrange meetings, and check in with clients, to name a few.
As a construction administrator, you need strong organizational skills, and relevant experience in the AEC industry. As a Construction Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations.
This role involves project planning, coordination, communication, and problem-solving to guarantee successful project outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and negotiate construction contracts, change orders, and subcontractor agreements to ensure project terms are favorable and in compliance with company policies.
- Facilitate effective communication among project team members, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to convey project expectations, updates, and changes.
- Maintain high-quality construction standards by conducting regular inspections, ensuring adherence to specifications and building codes.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including project reports, change orders, and progress reports.
- Ensure that all necessary permits and regulatory requirements are obtained and adhered to during the construction process.
- Answering RFI's, Submittals and all construction administration correspondence.
- Following up with all team members to ensure the project keeps moving forward.
- Preparing reports.
- Creating and Completing project documentation.
- Managing project documents.
- Examining and adequately understands project specifications and architectural documents.
- Keeping an up to date logs (Submittal, RFI's, Change Orders, among others).
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience in construction project management, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and building codes.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with contract negotiation and management.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Microsoft 365, Adobe Suite, among others.
- Critical Thinking.
- Strong Knowledge of all phases of the Architectural Process. (SD, DD, CD's, CA).
The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) certification is a plus but not required.
