MANDATORY TRAINING
The HAI AES is responsible for completing all DOH-mandated training for contract staff.
Description of Duties
This position is under the direct supervision of NHSN Epidemiologist. The HAI AES communicates and collaborates regularly with the supervisor, and other team members.
The HAI AES’s specific duties are as follows:
- Undergoes National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and Pennsylvania Patient Safety Reporting System (PA-PSRS) training, independently and under limited supervision;
- Adheres to DOH's security protocols and protect confidential patient and healthcare facility information;
- Learns and becomes proficient in using NHSN and PA-PSRS specific datasets;
- Creates and reviews reports using appropriate datasets;
- Conducts statistical analyses on NHSN and PA-PSRS using R or SAS;
- Prepares and delivers power point presentations to explain results of analysis and encourage improvement.
- Communicates concerns or problems to supervisor and/or other staff;
- Provides updates to the supervisor;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The DOH reserves the right to reject or remove any unqualified contract staff if they cannot perform their duties at an acceptable level. The supplier is expected to replace the contract staff ASAP depending on the needs of DOH.
DRESS CODE
ID must always be worn and must be visible and readable when working in Commonwealth buildings. The HAI AES shall dress in a manner that conveys professionalism.
ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS

- Uses Outlook to communicate via email.
- Uses R or SAS to create tables and figures for reports.
- Uses Power Point to develop presentations.

- Presents webinars regarding findings and implications.
- Interacts with colleagues and stakeholders cooperatively to develop effective working relationships.
- Reports problems accurately using the chain of command.
- Keeps conversations free from discriminatory, abusive or sexually harassing comments.
- Submits incident reports and work-related injury paperwork promptly.
