Supervises: Key Holders and Associates

General Purpose of Position

As part of the senior management team, the Visual Merchandiser Assistant Manager works directly with the Store Manager and other Assistant Managers to ensure the responsibilities of day-to-day merchandising management and operations of the store are being met. The Visual Merchandiser will execute merchandising strategies by creating and maintaining visual displays on the sales floor. As an Assistant Manager, you are responsible for opening and closing the store when the Store Manager is not present. An Visual Manager is a leader and must have the ability to make informative decisions, solve problems in a critical and diligent manner, and effectively manage the store when the Store Manager is not present.

Responsibilities/Duties

· Key responsibilities as a visual merchandiser will include visual display, inventory management, and merchandising training.

· Chief point of contact for new merchandising initiatives and responsible for communicating key information that is vital to the success of the initiative.

· Proactive participation in inventory management functions.

· Stock merchandise, take inventory, facilitate stock transfers, tag and retag, execute markdowns, and maintain awareness of potential loss prevention issues and activities.

· Participate in the shipping and receiving process and ensure that merchandise is customer ready before it is placed on the sales floor.

· Help train the store team about design concepts, visual display standards, and the proper maintenance of the overall visual display effort.

· Motivate members of the store team to actively support visual merchandising efforts.

· Responsible for executing merchandising plans that create and maintain a compelling presentation of merchandise that will engage customers and help stimulate sales activity.

· Maintains store appearance and product presentation to company standards.-Will move merchandise, shelving, and fixtures.

· Change signs, window graphics, and maintain the cleanliness and functionality of fixtures, signage, lights, and equipment.

· Ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient.

· Oversees compliance of key holders and sales associates with established company policies and standards.

· Ensures safekeeping of all Tyler’s property.

· Ensure that merchandise is stored, handled, and displayed in accordance with Tyler’s policies, strategies, and procedures.

· Provides support to key holders and sales associates during peak periods or when scheduling conflicts arise.

· Processes sales transactions, returns, and special orders, and ensures that all related documentation is accurate and complete.

· Leads and directs the work of others.

· Handles inventory discrepancies as soon as possible.

· Uses past experiences and judgment to plan and accomplish in store merchandising goals.

· Keeps the Store Manager and Management Team well informed of activities and significant issues.

· Locks and secures the store.

· Reports to Store Manager and District Visual Manager

· Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Requirements

· Available to work a full-time schedule which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

· Must have 2 – 4 years retail merchandising experience.

· Available to work the hours necessary to open and/or close the store.

· Need to be able to move, carry, or roll fixtures.

· Have excellent organizational skills, as well as planning, project management, and time management expertise.

· Self-motivator with strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills.

· Desirable qualities should include competitiveness, passion for retail as a career, a love for fashion merchandising, a committed and positive attitude, natural leadership abilities that motivate other around you.

Work Location: One location

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Management: 3 years (Required)
  • Visual Merchandising: 2 years (Required)
