What you will be doing
Tyto is seeking a Network Engineer with strong expertise in VOIP technology to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team at Ft. Meade, MD. This person will be working in support of a large and complex IT discovery, design, and migration effort towards a Single Service Provider model for the Department of Defense. This role will support the discovery analysis and design activities required to migrate common IT services from multiple large-scale DoD agencies into DoDNet. A successful candidate will be technically well-rounded, producing quality work with special attention to the right details.
Clearance Requirement:
- Active Secret security clearance
- Must be US Citizen
Responsibilities:
- Perform initial discovery efforts, defining data collection requirements based on inputs needed to develop a successful migration plan
- Utilize advanced data analysis techniques and benchmarks to define the future state migration plan, and the pre-migration activities necessary to close gaps
- Forecast backend infrastructure needs resulting from the migration of over 20 agencies into a single architecture
- Design solutions, integrate, configure, deploy, test and provide ongoing maintenance for numerous types of network devices, interfaces and methodologies
- Optimize end-to-end system performance and dataflow management
- Conduct data captures to obtain network performance information
- Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools
- Configure and optimize the network to connect various front-end and back-end components
- Gather needed data to specify system/component performance and interface requirements
- Implement specific network solutions to support server requirements to include load-balancing, VPN’s, firewall contexts, Traffic Shaping Voice over IP (VoIP), GRE Tunneling, IP Security (IPSec), IP Encryption, Media over IP (MoIP), and network address translation (NAT) where appropriate requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience; additional years of directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
- Proficiency with enterprise-class Voice over IP technologies and other IP/transport specific management tools (EMS) and general practices. Expertise in IP technologies, i.e. Networking architectures and methodologies
- This position requires extensive writing and the selected candidate MUST have superb writing skills
- Must have an active DoD IAT Level II (Security ) certification or equivalent prior to start
Preferred Qualifications:
- Consulting firm experience is highly desirable
- Expert Knowledge of IP principles
- Proficiency in at least one of the following tools: SolarWinds or Junos Space
