Basic Requirement for IT SPECIALIST (APPLICATIONS SOFTWARE): Specialized and Other Experience: To qualify for this position, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (DE-02 or GS-11) or equivalent pay band in the Federal service which includes 1) Support Information Technology programs in the area of software modeling, simulation for sensor, or mine/countermine functions; 2) Participate in the design, development, evaluation, or integration for software modeling / simulation; 3) Conduct technology experiments, data collection, data management, data analysis or reporting for a technology program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower pay band/grade level position in the federal service (DE-02/GS-11). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Job Description
- This position is located in the Applications Services Division.
- Performs software development and hardware integration in support of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) along with unit tests.
- Develops in parallel programming, modern software architecture (examples include MVC, Restful APIs, Cloud (Azure),etc.), and software repositories (such as GitLab).
- Develops in modern software languages such as VB .Net, and C# while applying knowledge of scripting and Object-Oriented Languages such as VB .Net/C# and React in Windows-based environments along with some development in legacy ASP .Net webforms.
- Applies current and emerging software development technologies to perform system level development and modification tasks.
- Integrates software components and third-party programs through clean, efficient code.
- Applies Object-Oriented Programming, Agile Software Development Principles, and Development-Security-Operations (DevSecOps) technologies and implementations in Linux and/or Windows based environments.
- Defines, builds, and tests stories throughout the Agile process.
- Performs DevSecOps and Agile migration (modernizing the Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS) application web services (interfaces) to APIs, streamlining the development process.
- Utilizes risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk).
- Utilizes Sql Server and Azure Sql Database platforms.
- Utilize different software design patterns and conduct writing secure software.
- Review design characteristics, limitations, and potential applications of systems; having the ability to process or transfer information; and of broad areas of applications of computing that have common structures, processes, and techniques.
- Applies software design principles, methods, and approaches to design, write, test, debug, and maintain software applications that meet technical and functional requirements.
- Applies project management principles and methods to represent the organization in interactions with other organizations; and provide technical leadership on group projects.
- Performs hands-on software integration and testing with target hardware in the loop and interfacing with various disciplines, including system and integration and test engineering.
