About the Position: Serve as an Interdisciplinary (Engineer) Regional Technical Specialist (RTS) for the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division (LRD), providing technical expertise related specifically to regional maintenance activities throughout the inland waterways.

This is a competitive upgrade to an encumbered position, no vacancy exists. Selectee remains at their current LRD District location,

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing professional engineering expertise to maintenance personnel as well as Operations Project Managers (OPMs) for repairs and maintenance of navigation locks and dams and flood control structures; planning and scheduling of maintenance projects for navigation structures; and providing interpretation of technical instructions, regulations, and resolution of problems related to navigation structures.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Salary : $98,496 - $142,650
