ENTRY LEVEL POSITION. THIS JOB IS FOR INDIVIDUALS WILLING TO JOIN AND BE A PART OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY.

U.S. Army EYE SPECIALIST: 68Y

ACASP (Army Civilian Acquired Skills Program): Active Duty Only

Requirement: Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or higher is mandatory

Overview

The eye specialist supervises or conducts routine diagnostic tests and assists in the care and treatment of ophthalmology or optometry patients. Eye specialists work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists and ophthalmic specialists in caring for patients with eye problems.

Job Duties

  • Perform tonometry test
  • Assist in patient care
  • Testing visual fields
  • Locate areas of reduced vision

Basic Qualifications:

· Age - 17 to 34 years old (34 and above is waivable)

· Must be a US citizen or Green Card Holder

· No open law violations.

· Must pass a drug screen (Paid for)

· Must currently be in good health with no physical limitations.

Training

Job training for an eye specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field with on-the-job instructions, including on-the-job instruction for installation and repair.

  • Assisting ophthalmologists and optometrists

Compensation

Total compensation includes housing allowance, full medical insurance, tuition assistance, food allowance, special pay, vacation with pay, life insurance, maternity or paternity leave and career progression trainings.
