Duties
Makes independent decisions on technical matters based on current standard practices and techniques, and the work is performed largely without direct supervision.
Operates gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler type traction in all types of terrain environments.
Operate vehicles that may be equipped with auxiliary attachments such as plows, blades, blowers, mowers, sweepers, or sanding units.
May operate heavy equipment in support of fire suppression activities on fire lines and to reclaim burned land.
Completes minor maintenance projects such as cleaning culverts and ditches; clearing brush and other debris from roads and / or fire lines;
installing cattle guards, culverts, signs, and / or fences; removing snow, etc.
Assist in the completion of annual property inventories and / or reviews.
Use equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth such as breaking new ground for trails, roads, dams, dikes, reservoirs, culverts, water developments, structural facilities, campgrounds, utility lines, concrete pads, construction sites, etc
Conduct assessments of existing road conditions to determine road maintenance needs.
Coordinates the completion of major equipment / vehicle repairs with appropriate personnel.
Carry out standardized welding operations to join a variety of different kinds of parts or components on items such as kiosks, shelters, grates, gates, cattle guards, culverts, etc.
Conduct inspections on contracts to ensure contracted work is well tracked and documented.
