Essential Functions:
Provides support to the Human Resources Manager and HR Team with employee and labor relations matters including disciplinary meetings, grievance meetings, investigation meetings, contract negotiation meetings and employee counseling. Responsible for the recruitment of open positions for both hourly and salaried positions in support of the site operations. Managed the facility attendance system. Assists supervisors in assuring company compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, answers routine questions involving company programs, procedures, benefits, safety, and bargaining agreement.
Participates in recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel. Post positions on company and professional website, employee agencies, and with approved recruiters. Posts all job bid vacancies according to the collective bargaining agreement Posts positions at plant level, pre-screen applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills and salary requirements. Schedules interviews and assist management in selection for said positions. Coordinate logistical requirements and make recommendations while considering companies policies and legal obligations.
Responsible for making sure all pre-employment requirements are complete and approved before extending an offer letter. Prepare hourly offer letters under the guidance of the Human Resources Manager. Meet and greet new hires on first day and conduct new employee orientations, issue time cards (hourly employees), benefits package, company rules, policies, and new hire related paperwork.
Assists salaried and bargaining unit employees with benefits enrollment, 401(k), including assuring forms are properly completed and necessary documentation is furnished. Direct employees to contact benefit vendors directly for any extensive request.
Prepares reports, completes forms and furnishes information as directed by State and Federal requirements and company policy and procedures.
Oversee and coordinates FMLA process to ensure ADA other employment laws are followed. Responsible for providing FML paperwork and making sure paperwork has been submitted in a timely matter.
Coordinates/oversees I-9 verification E-Verify Pilot program and Alabama New Hire Program.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, HR, Psychology and/or Industrial Relations or equivalent is required. PHR certification is a plus. Minimum of 3-5 years of solid HR generalist experience in a fast paced union or non-union manufacturing environment is required. Good understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements and how this process works is a plus.
