GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the leadership of the Director, assist with the management of the Employee Relations function for UAB Medicine (UAB Hospital, UAB Health System, Health Services Foundation). In collaboration with HR professionals, Legal and others, conduct workplace investigations, determine findings, and facilitate timely resolution. Provide guidance and decisions for escalated HR employee relations matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the leadership of the Director, assist with the management of the Employee Relations function for UAB Medicine (UAB Hospital, UAB Health System, Health Services Foundation) ensuring employee relations practices inspire trust and confidence with employees and leaders of UAB Medicine.
- Ensures a continuous quality improvement process and best practices for employee relations are maintained.
- Supervises employees in responsibility area, completes annual performance evaluations, and participates in the hiring and training process.
- In collaboration with HR professionals, Legal and others, conduct and oversee workplace investigations with an emphasis on HR matters, including employment policy violations, retaliation, harassment and discrimination allegations, Ethics hotline matters, BTAM, EEOC charges and the formal grievance process.
- Serves as a lead resource for regulatory site visits. Participate as an active member, engaging in positive outcomes and resolutions.
- Conducts training in-services for leadership.
- Facilitates employee grievance procedure.
- Other duties as assigned.
$85,600 - $139,100
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Position requires Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resource or related field and seven (7) years of related work experience, with HR leadership experience at manager level or above. Proficient with federal and state employment laws. Extensive experience with conflict resolution and complex HR investigations. The ideal candidate will have exceptional oral and written communication skills demonstrating a positive communication approach. Exceptional ability to effectively operate in complex situations demonstrating effective organizational, listening, inquiring, problem-solving, conflict resolution and investigative skills. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities and deliver against frequent time-sensitive deadlines. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom and electronic recordkeeping.
JD degree and employment-related litigation experience may substitute for manager experience.
