Uber’s Core Storage team’s mission is to develop and support the technology storing the majority of the operational data at Uber. We provide a manageable, reliable, high QoS database and storage backend ideal for large scale workloads. Together with that we provide the infrastructure that connects real-time databases to the Big Data Platform that powers business decisions at Uber. We are a groundbreaking platform engineering team empowered to make storage at Uber scalable, reliable, durable and efficient to support incredible growth of Uber.
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of dedicated engineers within the Core Storage org. As an eng manager, your team will lead next generation storage access layer interfacing between Uber’s business-critical applications and the underlying scalable storage systems including cache, databases and object storage.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Lead a team of dedicated software engineers to deliver scalable storage solutions
- Work with stakeholders and multi-functional teams to lead planning and execution through a full product cycle
- Partner with engineering teams, help see opportunities, gather requirements, and help shape the technology roadmap and vision for the team
- Hire high-quality engineering talent, lead and develop your team
- Develop an operational model to achieve operational excellence for engineering and product metrics
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in Distributed Systems and Software Engineering for 8 years
- Experience as a technical leader and manager for at least 2 years
- Experience building and operating critical high-scale services
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in leading teams who build large-scale distributed storage systems
- Experience with cloud storage offerings e.g. DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, Spanner, S3, GCS
- Experience with running and maintaining large scale infrastructure
- Experience with building high performance, scalable distributed systems using technologies like Redis, Kafka, Zookeeper, Kubernetes, etc.
Salary : $145,000 - $184,000
