Responsibilities
The Business Planning Manager is responsible for leading the development of opportunities, concepts, business cases, and execution plans for departments and business units, internal to UCDH through subordinate staff, and other matrixed leaders across the organization. He/she will manage business planning professionals to produce market research reports, conduct internal capabilities assessments, provide financial modeling, lead business planning, and progress monitoring for the organization. The manager maintains accountability for stewardship of human and financial resources necessary to achieve objectives related to business development and strategy at UCDH. This role will provide guidance to executive leadership including COOs, CFO, CIO, CAOs, Departmental Chairs and other organizational executives, to identify and target strategic initiatives as identified by the Clinical Strategic plan to develop solution-driven outcomes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field with five or more years of experience managing in health care consulting, hospital or healthcare operations, strategy, and business development; or a combination of education and experience
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and lead multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams. Ability to motivate staff and achieve results.
- Advanced knowledge of business development practices, process improvement, and cost management initiatives.
- Advanced analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills to assess complex issues and develop solutions
- Advanced planning, project management, change management, and process improvement skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including ability to positively interact with executives, providers, and staff at all levels
- Demonstrated strong leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills to lead and work collaboratively and effectively with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams, and with executives, providers, and staff at all levels
- Knowledge of health care forecasting methodologies and financial modeling
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software and database applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field
- Highly developed knowledge and experience in healthcare planning and business development
- Knowledge and experience with UC Davis Health organization, structure, clinical, research, and administrative departments
- Experience in large academic healthcare setting
