What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infant Feeding Technician - NICU position at UCHealth?

Summary:
Prepares expressed human milk and formulas. Ensures safe operation of equipment needed to prepare expressed human milk and formula and maintains sanitation in the preparation room.

Work Schedule: Full Time Days - .8 - 64 hours per pay period.

Responsibilities:
Receives, properly stores and manages inventory of expressed human milk and infant formulas.

Reviews feeding orders in medical record per physician or registered dietitian. Calculates measurements of additives to be combined with volume of human milk/formula to the correct caloric and nutrient density.

Prepares expressed human milk and formula using aseptic technique to provide individualized infant nutrition based on orders.

Distributes prepared milk feedings to the bedside at appropriate intervals.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:
  • Credentials: None Required
  • Other information:
    Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or GED.
    Required Licensure/Certification: None required.
    Minimum Experience: None required.
  • Highly Preferred: CNA, MA, Pharmacy Tech, or other medical personnel with experience in measuring and storage. Great math skills.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

The pay range for this position is: $18.54 - $24.10 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
